The 2014 Anywhere Theatre Festival created arts for all Queenslanders with a globally unique model that engages communities, businesses and performers to create performance anywhere but traditional theatre venues, right where they live. 

The wider community connects with arts that ask them to take pride in their city and public spaces, to view their world with new eyes and promote Brisbane as a truly “world” city and a cultural place to live and work.  Key statistics with comparison to 2013 where appropriate

  • Performances across 27 (up from 13) Brisbane suburbs anywhere but a theatre
  • # of performances of circus, drama, comedy, dance, puppetry, poetry, burlesque up from 243 to 420.
  • 77% of the 10,227 tickets available for purchase were sold – up from 75% of the 9,000 tickets available for purchase in 2013. This % of capacity is up 2% on the stable 2011 to 2014 figure of 75%.
  • 90% of audiences rated their experience as Above Average or “Excellent” and 99% of attendees stated they would recommend the festival to others.
  • 71% of audiences said they were more likely to use a partners services or visit their business as a result of their Anywhere Theatre Festival experience.
  • 69% of ticket purchasers had not purchased tickets to previous Anywhere Theatre Festivals.
  • Cross community in kind support valued at $483,000 from 32 business and community organisations. Including the value of the producers and performers in kind contribution, this increases to $1,147,800
  • 47 local Queensland world-firsts developed specifically for the 2014 Anywhere Theatre Festival. If the new works had been funded for development through the existing Project funding per project at an average of $14,670, this would have cost an estimated $689,020
  • Box office sales of $80,980 went to independent producers and performers, up from $56,000 in 2013. An additional $21,500 also went to producers and performers through Creative Partnerships matched funding and other sponsorship opportunities brokered by Anywhere Theatre Festival.
