2013 Anywhere Theatre Festival dates announced

POSTED IN NEWS July 24, 2012

The Anywhere Theatre Festival will be returning for Brisbane audiences 8 – 19 May 2013.

The first surprise is that the annual fringe festival for performance anywhere but a theatre is growing in length every so slightly – from ten to twelve days.

“We had several shows in 2011 and 2012 that ran on the Sunday after the festival and the Wednesday before,” said Paul Osuch, Artistic Director of Anywhere Theatre Festival. “We felt it made sense to add those two days to make it a twelve day event.”

The second big change for the 2013 festival will be the geographic scope of the festival, which will focus on events for audiences only within Brisbane City Limits. In 2011 and 2012 the majority of events were in Brisbane City Limits with some in the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Toowoomba and Ipswich.

“In 2013 we’ll be keeping the festival within Brisbane City limits only. Other councils won’t be missing out though,” said Paul. “Instead, we are talking with other councils about their own Anywhere Theatre Festivals that exist in their own right or as part of each council’s existing festivals.”

Registrations for participants will be opening 1 November 2012.
